NTDC Partner Queen’s University Belfast hosted its first Technician Commitment Event on Wednesday the 9th of January 2019.
The event celebrated the expertise and contribution of its 240 technicians and was attended by technical staff and the University’s senior leaders.
NTDC Deputy Director Natalie Kennerley spoke at the event about the challenges facing many institutions technical staff and services and how the NTDC and Technician Commitment can help those HEIs. Natalie also talked about the importance of Professional Registration for technicians and the role of professional bodies such as the IST.
Mel Leitch, NTDC Specialist Advisor and Technical Manager at Newcastle University’s Institute of Neuroscience and Dr Karen Henderson, Director of Technical Services at the University of Reading illustrated how they are using the NTDC tools, such as the Skills Audit, to understand and enhance their technical services.
