We are seeking to appoint a highly experienced individual to act as technical team leader for our Scientific Facilities – Bioscience team within the Molecular Sciences Technical group. The team supports Manchester Met students and staff across a range of subject areas within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The successful candidate will have specialist Biosciences skills, knowledge and experience and will providing technical advice and training to service users.
This is an exciting time for the university as we are re-shaping the way we deliver scientific equipment support and related system. This new role would provide an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to influence the direction to deliver a forward looking efficient and high quality service.
You will manage a team of technical staff, taking responsibility for the effective running of the service and scientific facilities pertaining to biosciences; supporting learning, teaching, research and enterprise activities. Acting as a specialist within our facilities, providing technical advice and training to service users. This requires the ability to operate a range of laboratory equipment safely and to a high standard.
The role requires experience of working in bioscience facilities and a proven knowledge of health and safety in relation to biological laboratories, GMO and human tissue.
You will have a background in bioscience and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. You will have excellent communication skills, a hands-on approach, the ability to work in a flexible manner and the knowledge and skills to provide help and support to students and colleagues.
The successful candidate will have experience of managing a diverse technical team and/or scientific facility and be able to demonstrate a wide range of bioscience related skills to support undergraduate and postgraduate activities within the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
