Technicians Make It Happen are Looking for Volunteers
The Big Bang Fair is the UK’s largest STEM fair, attracting nearly 80,000 young people, teachers and parents from all over the UK for four days of inspiration at the NEC, Birmingham. You can find out more about what the fair is and how you can visit it here.
Technicians Make it Happen goes to the Fair every year, to champion the amazing work technicians are doing every day. But to really inspire people, they need you to come join them – no one speaks better about what technicians do than technicians themselves!
Technicians Make it Happen’s volunteers run hands-on STEM activities and talk to visitors about their career journey. If you join them, you’ll be part of a team of eight volunteers and TMiH staff, who will take you through a full briefing and be there to answer any questions you have about the day.
They are looking for volunteers on all four days of the Fair, but do not recommend any one person volunteers for more than one day. The timings are:
Wednesday 11th March – 9:00 to 16:00
Thursday 12th March – 9:00 to 16:00
Friday 13th March – 9:00 to 16:00
Saturday 14th March – 8:30 to 16:00
TMiH will cover your expenses for attending the event, including hotel rooms for anyone with a long travel journey. They also offer to pay for volunteers’ registration fees to a professional body for one year as a thank you.
