Review of the NTDC TechMeet #8 – SMartmentoring for Technical Staff- Skills, Support and CPD

By 3rd December 2020 December 9th, 2020 News

On the 24th of November, the NTDC team hosted our eighth TechMeet, focusing on the new Smart Mentoring. The event proved very popular, with around 50 individuals tuning-in from across the UK and from over in Western Sydney. The event was chaired by Matt Levi and Sarah Davies, both members of the Mentor SMart Club.

SMartMentoring is a one-to-one mentoring service for professionals that gives them a better understanding of everyday technology. The current service that NTDC and Mentor SMart Club have been piloting is specifically tailored to technical staff. The tools will be useful for mentees, managers and organizations. The system is a standalone resource that eliminates the need for additional software or hardware.

Below is a quote from Matt Levi, one of the project leads:

“Mentor Smart Club are working on the Smart Mentoring project with NTDC because this service compliments the framework, resources (and or course reflects the Technician Commitment) and all of the hard work already done to support Technical Professionals by NTDC. NTDC want to push out the learning boundaries to Partner Affiliates and others in bringing the community closer together with this innovation at a time of great additional stress and pressure. We are also proud to be working with such a professional and great group of people.

This initiative particularly in these fast changing times can offer focussed 1:1 learning opportunities on any subject as we seek to start to develop a self help community on a sustainable future basis. There is no easier or more efficient way to learn.”

– Matt Levi, NTDC Specialist Advisor
