Duties and Responsibilities

Applications are invited for post of Liquid Transmission Electron Microscopy Facility Manager in the Department of Chemistry at UCL. The Electron Microscopy facility is based in adjacent laboratories in the Department of Chemistry at 20 Gordon Street, London and serves Chemistry and other UCL departments

The postholder will be an experienced practical laboratory manager able to work both on their own and as part of a team.

Duties include being responsible for the EPSRC/JEOL Centre for Liquid Transmission Electron Microscope and providing advice and expertise on the 5 other electron microscopes (SEM and TEM) in the department, delivering training for postgraduate students and researchers, and analysing samples submitted to the service.

This is an open ended appointment and is available immediately.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will have a first degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, and have in-depth knowledge of imaging science including transmission electron microscopy. You must have experience in managing a technical service, experience of working in a research environment and contributing effectively to the work of chemistry research groups in an educational environment, and excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal.
