Pride Month is celebrated every June as a tribute to those who were involved in the Stonewall Riots. Our Partners proudly support staff and students all over the UK. Inclusivity is an important part of the technical community, as technicians are often not seen for the extraordinary work they do. We at the NTDC have summarised what a few of our Partners are doing for Pride Month.
Anglia Ruskin University – Wellbeing
As part of the Anglia Ruskin University Library, they have put together a variety of topics that aid in wellbeing. From mental health information to stress, these resources provide a valuable asset to how Anglia Ruskin are supporting their staff and students.
University of Coventry – LibGuides
The University of Coventry have put together a collection of LGBT+ Fiction Books as well as a main Pride hub information page for their staff and students.
De Montfort University – Events
There are plenty of events taking place at De Montfort University taking place virtually to mark LGBTQ+ History Month. Even though events cannot be done in person there is still a vibrant atmosphere #DMUpride and there will be events taking place for everyone to take part in to educate themselves and to recognise the influence LGBT people have had around the world.
University of Derby – Transcript
The University of Derby are proud to support equality and diversity as an institution by equipping their students and staff to challenge discrimination at every level so that nobody has the excuse of being a bystander.
University of Kent – Online Background
The University of Kent have put some ideas together so that you can be more inclusive in the ‘online workplace’.
Update your company email signatures
Add your pronouns to your email signature, (Pronouns means how you identify — he/him, she/her, they/them, for instance — and how you’d like other people to refer to you. This is a great, inclusive practice for everyone, even or especially if you’re cisgender!)
Change your online meeting background
So celebrate with your background!
P-eople – Pride is about the people in the LGBTQ and allied community. Remember that our shared humanity is what is both celebrated and at stake in the global fight for full LGBTQ equality.
R-esilience Pride stands as a powerful claim of self-worth and community celebration in contrast to historic ostracization of LGBTQ people.
I-nformation – Pride serves as an important milestone for employers to share information with their own workforce, customers and clients about the meaningful ways they engage with the LGBTQ community and are advocates for equality.
D-iversity Pride is the culmination of struggle to fully recognize the diversity of the community.
E-xpression – The visuals that often come to mind from Pride month are colourful, campy and fun. From tiaras to boas to floats and DJs, Pride is a celebration of individual and community.
University of York – Celebrating Diversity
The University of York have put a video together to show how they are making York Pride 2021.

The NTDC and IST have been showing our support for Pride Month over June by replacing our social media icons with ones designed with the Pride colours.
