Do you have an aptitude for science and in particular working in a laboratory environment? Do you want to begin your career as a technician in one of the top Universities in the country?
We are looking for two apprentices, eager to start their career as Laboratory Technicians. One apprentice will provide support to the radiation laboratories in the School of Chemical and Process Engineering and one will support the suite of materials analysis labs in the Bragg Building as part of the Faculty of Engineering Physical Sciences apprenticeship scheme.
As part of our apprenticeship technical training scheme, you will be placed on an appropriate Laboratory technician apprenticeship course at level 3, offered by York College or other local college. You will be mentored by one of our senior technicians in our radiation laboratories, where you will be given specific training in this area. On completion of your training, you will have an ideal skill set to go on to a successful career as a technician, having learnt several disciplines associated with working in a lab environment.
Acceptance to this position is subject to both a College and University assessment process. Due to the requirements for the apprenticeship course, we cannot appoint anyone to this position who has a qualification in the field of Chemistry, Physics and/or Biology at level 3 or above, or an equivalent qualification.
