Mechanical Engineering Safety Officer

Salary: £36,028 – £43,533 per annum

Duties and Responsibilities
Working on a number of sites including Bloomsbury, King’s Cross and Harwell the role holder will get to understand the activities ongoing within the Department and advise on and ensure that best practice is taking place.
The role holder will not only provide advice but will also be active in achieving completed improvements in creating local operations procedures with staff within the group and installing safety equipment and management throughout the Department.
The role holder will source advice and work closely with UCL Safety Services, UCL Estates and external bodies to provide the best solutions to the different safety issues faced in providing leading research.
The role holder will have good knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and have undergone certified safety training in order to promote good working practice, the university safety policy, safety legislation and laws.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or have proven experience in Mechanical Engineering. You will have proven knowledge in the operation of Health and Safety Management as well as extensive knowledge in one or more of the following: fuels, gases, chemicals and laser use.
You will have qualification in safety training such as IOSH or NEBOSH and experience of conducting risk assessments safety inspections and audits. You will be computer literate with skills well developed in Microsoft Word, Excel, Email and Outlook and have good problem solving skills.
