Duties and Responsibilities
Main duties include, Proven experience or expertise in analog and digital electronic circuit simulation, design and layout. To support academic staff in developing new laboratory demonstrations and project activities and in teaching laboratory sessions. Ability to undertake practical demonstrations, face to face presentations and one to one mentoring and coaching to facilitate understanding and develop the skills and capabilities of both staff and students. Also To help the department workshop and laboratories perform in line with UCL safety policies by maintaining enough safety representatives and specialist duties such as fire evacuation marshals, first- aiders, fork lift truck drivers, safe use of abrasive wheels etc. with the other technicians in the team.

The postholder will actively follow UCL policies including Equal Opportunities and Race Equality policies. The postholder will maintain an awareness and observation of Fire and Health & Safety Regulations. To undertake any other duties as requested by the Departmental Superintendent or Head of Department, commensurate with the grade of the post.

General duties and responsibilities includes good knowledge of electrical engineering and electronics, proven understanding and experience of implementing and adhering to safety protocols within a workshop or laboratory environment and Ability to operate standard laboratory equipment including maintenance, calibration and testing where applicable.

Key Requirements
Degree or Engineering HND / HNC, Level 4 NVQ or recognised apprenticeship in a relevant subject area and have substantial relevant post qualification work experience, or substantial work experience in a relevant engineering discipline or laboratory role. GCSE in Maths and English at grade C or equivalent.

Good knowledge of electrical engineering and electronics. Practical experience of working with one and three phase systems, electrical machines, and electrical equipment. Experience of working without direct supervision and taking responsibility for meeting service standards and agreeing targets and workloads. Proven understanding and experience of implementing and adhering to safety protocols within a workshop or laboratory environment.
