Technical Services are a large and diverse team of highly skilled technicians who ensure the optimal functioning of specialist spaces to deliver an exceptional student experience. We work in specialist laboratories, workshops, studios, resource centres and IT facilities; and our technical professionals play a key role supporting, guiding and advising students across our university from sciences, art, design and technology, through to sports, ceramics, nursing and physiotherapy.
This role sits in the AV & Performance team, who provide specialist technical support to the Faculty of Arts & Humanities through managing equipment loans, delivering technical skills workshops to students, providing support to academics and providing technical support for events. They support a diverse range of courses and subject areas including: filmmaking & photography, theatre & performance, fine art, art & design, virtual/augmented reality, immersive technology and more.
The successful candidate will be a proficient and practicing technical specialist in one or more of the following areas: Audio engineering, stage/studio lighting, video engineering, photography or filmmaking. They will have a proven record of accomplishment in a similar environment or their own established practice. Additionally, they will have a positive and flexible approach to your work, be reliable and punctual as well as be motivated and willing to undertake all required training and allocated tasks. They will have the ability to work alongside others and be capable of working in a team, whilst striving to deliver excellent customer service. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate ownership of your personal workload.
