Exhibition funded by NTDC Technical Development Fund now open to view
A virtual exhibition promoting technical careers to the next generation has now launched online.
Technicians – The Next Generation highlights technical staff across all disciplines who work in higher education and research sectors.
Edinburgh Napier University laboratory technician, Russell Wilson successfully won funding from the NTDC Technician Development Fund to get the project off the ground.
Upon winning the £500 funding for ‘designing and developing an outreach/public engagement activity, which supports the promotion of technical careers to the next generation’, Russell set about seeking national collaborators ahead of the launch, at the end of last month.
The interactive multimedia exhibition includes contributions that spotlight an array of technical professions, displaying the various roles and responsibilities available, as well as explaining how integral technical service staff are to higher education institutions.
The online gallery is intended as an engaging learning resource that will inspire students to pursue technical careers.
Russell said: “ The aim is to have a range of exhibits tailored to a wide-ranging audience so that children ranging from primary to secondary school age can learn more about technical careers. These exhibitions will remain open for a full year and will be advertised with the help of our institutions, current links with schools and other associated organisations.”
All exhibitors will have access to the Technicians – Next Generation project materials for future educational use, at the end of the project.
