An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Engineering Technician to support research projects currently running in the university’s internationally leading Advanced Materials Research Centre.
You will employ your creative skills as part of a team, to solve problems relating to the design, manufacture and operation of research/ bespoke equipment, working on exciting new developments with a range of companies, national and international.
The requirements are –
Significant “hands-on” ability within an Engineering\Manufacturing environment or polymer\plastics processing Plant.
Relevant skills can include precision machining, electronic\electrical skills, maintenance engineering and/or product manufacture.
A positive attitude and a pro-active approach to problem solving.
A good understanding of computer systems (Microsoft Office or equivalent).
Apprentice trained in an engineering related discipline.
Full support where needed will be given to the right candidate and the opportunity to expand your skills will be provided with dedicated training.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grade 7 Senior Technician role will also incorporate aspects of the following duties:
- Designing and manufacturing specialist equipment, including assemblies, individual components. Setting and operating injection moulding machines
- Providing expert advice and leading on the technical aspects of complex research projects where the outcome is not always clear and exploratory in nature.
- Using and providing support for computer packages such as SOLIDWORKS for design, LabVIEW for systems engineering and Data acquisition
