Technical Operations, Resources and Services (TORS) provides professional technical support for teaching, research and practical activities within the University. Within this group, the Design team is committed to providing highly skilled technical support for a wide variety of equipment, software and facilities relating to Digital & Print Output, Engineering, Architecture, New and Built Environment, Imaging and Education.
In the role of Technician – CAD, you will be part of a small dedicated team providing expert guidance and specialist expertise within an engineering based environment, primarily supporting 3D CAD and Modelling software.
As a CAD Technician you will provide advice and technical support support for a wide range of staff, student and research projects. Knowledge and experience in the selection of appropriate techniques is key to this role as you will also provide advice and solutions for a wide range of staff, student and research projects.
You will work closely with the Senior Technician to test and configure CAD and modelling software running in a windows environment, ensuring that software is working correctly and ready for use at the start of each semester.
You must have excellent communication skills, and the self-confidence to liaise with staff, students and stakeholders at all levels. You’ll be committed to providing excellent customer service and demonstrate a professional, approach when managing enquiries and giving advice, guidance and information. You will be able to plan, organise and prioritise your own work in a proactive and flexible manner, and work to deadlines whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
