Technical Operations, Resources and Services (TORS) is a large cross-university team providing specialist Technical Support for teaching, research, and commercial activities. The Specialist Technical Environment (STE) team supports a diverse array of equipment and spaces across the university estate.
The successful applicant will play a key role in developing and maintaining an effective inventory system for all of the TORS equipment, and will ensure that accurate record keeping is maintained by the team. You will have oversight of service contracts and their implementation, ensuring compliance testing is completed efficiently. You will work closely with contractors, estates and technical teams to manage service visits within TORS spaces, conducting contractor inductions and ensuring compliance with health and safety arrangements. In some of these cases, you will be the sole point of contact.
Some knowledge of laboratory and workshop equipment and environments would be helpful although not essential. You will provide support where required for procurement, complex installations, and disposal of equipment. Experience of working with MS Excel and other systems such as Google drive, is essential as this role will require the management of large sets of equipment data, generation of reports and use of the data to inform the annual cycle of maintenance visits.
