Summary:Â
You will support the School of Bioscience in its delivery of Undergraduate and Postgraduate taught practical programs, working collaboratively with staff to support delivery of the practical classes.Â
The role involves all aspects of laboratory operations including sample preparation, laboratory setup, equipment maintenance, housekeeping, purchasing, record keeping and health and safety activities. A core function of the role is to support and deliver high quality practical teaching, skills training and provide supervision and guidance to undergraduate and postgraduate students.Â
Working closely with academic and professional colleagues at all levels from across the university, you will support our objectives to increase the provision for postgraduate taught students, engage in outreach and widening participation activities and support the implementation of innovative technologies into the laboratory environment that contribute to solving sustainability challenges.Â
Applicants must have 5 GCSEs A*-C/ 4+ including English, Maths, Science and ICT, or a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship, or equivalent experience. Previous laboratory experience related to biological sciences, including mammalian cell culture, developmental biology, molecular biology is also essential. In addition, applicants must be driven, committed to delivering a world-class student experience by contributing to the development of our technical service, pursuing relevant areas of professional development and registration as appropriate to the needs of the department.
