Salary:   £35,333 to £42,155 p.a. – Grade 7

Are you an experienced Chemistry Technician with management experience?  Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge as part of one of the leading schools in Chemistry in the country?  Do you want to make a difference to world class research and teaching activities?

We are looking for a professional and proactive Lead Technician to manage a busy teaching laboratory in the School of Chemistry, acting as a first point of contact to ensure a professional technical service is provided. You will be responsible for the day-to-day planning, organisation and operation of the Porter laboratory.

The Lead Technician will provide expert laboratory support for ongoing research and teaching projects and act as a recognised source of expertise, providing relevant experimental support for ongoing research projects.

In this varied and interesting role, you will also work with students, supporting teaching through preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and enhancing the student experience through giving demonstrations, providing specialist support and advice. You will also lead the management and development of our team of Technicians in the Chemistry Stores that provides a vital service across the School and wider Faculty. You will have a degree/HND/C or equivalent in Chemistry, with experience of laboratory management and the ability to demonstrate and teach laboratory techniques to students.
