Fully Skilled Machinist required to manufacture bespoke component parts for use in World Class Education and Research.

You will be excited at the thought of joining a team at the forefront of Engineering education and research at one of the UK’s top Universities, manufacturing parts that will be used in all environments from beneath the oceans to outer space and everything in between. 

You will rely on your considerable skills and experience to manufacture complex and high precision work, machining components from specialist materials using a range of conventional machine tools such as Centre Lathes, Vertical Mills and Surface Grinders. It is essential that you have experience with CNC equipment and ideally with experience of machining using multi-axis CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, WaterJet Cutters and Wire EDM. The ability to program, set and operate would be highly beneficial although training could be provided . Additional skills utilising Robot Arms and Metal Additive Manufacturing would be welcomed. You will also possess excellent hand skills.

To be successful in this application, you will demonstrate skill level equivalent to achievement of Level 6 of the NQF (Degree) comparison chart. Or equivalent industrial/professional experience and have an excellent background in precision engineering. 

You will need to have excellent communication and time management skills and be used to working to tight tolerances and be comfortable in independently producing one off component parts to Engineering drawings.
