Technical Services Sustainability Officer  

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Technical Services team in a brand-new role as our Sustainability Officer.   

Our team comprises approximately 200 technicians across the University. We provide specialist support to undergraduate and postgraduate students and the student experience is at the heart of what we do.    

The services we provide underpin a wide variety of academic programmes and we deliver this support via specialist laboratories, workshops, design studios and contemporary arts facilities.    

Our technical staff provide a high level of expertise and technical knowledge, playing a key role in supporting students in their studies and project work.    

We provide support for research, consultancy and knowledge exchange activities.     

We are a positive, forward-looking service, committed to a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.       

Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking for an impactful and exciting role. We seek to appoint a Sustainability Officer to join our positive and supportive team.  The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Sustainability team and Technical Services Leadership team to plan and deliver aspects of the University’s sustainability engagement programme that develops knowledge, skills, and attributes for a sustainable development amongst staff.  

In addition, you will work with the Sustainability team and Technical Services Leadership team to plan and deliver effective communications that contribute towards a number of key objectives (e.g. student experience, knowledge, skills, and attributes for sustainable development, reputation as a leading sustainable University, awareness and understanding of the University’s sustainability commitments). 

You will be primarily based in the fantastic Great Marlborough Street Building, Manchester Metropolitan University      

About You:    

We are seeking an individual who has a passion for sustainability and a desire to use their skills and abilities to make a positive impact. Our successful post holder will have the necessary skills to pro-actively build effective working relationships internally and externally, at all levels. In addition, they will have substantial experience of understanding and conveying sustainability information and data that needs careful explanation and interpretation.
