CPD Central

How CPD Central works

Continuing Professional Development Platform

Features:

CPD Central has a number of features and functionality that optimise and standardise the work your teams carry out day to day.

Features include: log and manage your cpd, record and complete tasks set, template for national standards, highly secure and fully encrypted, transfer CPD records to other organisations or personal accounts, easily upload documents, assign users to supervisors, supervisors can set and approve tasks, supervisors can check CPD, download your record if you decide to leave.

Types of user accounts

There are five different types of accounts available.

Different accounts allow for extra functionality and enhanced CPD recording and monitoring. No other CPD tool (that we know of) uses this many levels of user. The advantage of this is that people can transfer their CPD portfolio to another organisation if they move jobs.

System admin user

Maintain portal updates and security and troubleshoot problems. Users can add, delete, assign roles and reset passwords for all five account types as well as requesting and approving account transfers and setting up organisations, units and job titles. System admin users can only see other user accounts name, email, organisation and unit they belong to, job title, last login, assigned supervisors/basic users (cannot see individual tasks or CPD reports from other accounts).

Site admin user

Site administrators are typically the director or chief manager within your organisations unit. Users can add, delete, assign roles and reset passwords for site, supervisor lead, supervisor and basic user account types. Site admin users can only see the same information as the system account user (again they cannot see individual tasks or CPD reports). Users can also request account transfers at a specific date and when they receive a transfer request, users can set a new account type, set a new email, unit, and select or add a new job title. Site admins have the ability to switch between site admin and supervisor lead user.

Supervisor lead user

Supervisor lead users are typically technical managers or leaders and supervise staff who are also supervisors themselves. Users can record their own CPD (upload documents, download single entry records as well as defined date entry records). Supervisor lead users can also set tasks (with titles, descriptions, categories, score range and due date) for supervisor users they are assigned to and comment on tasks when completed.

Supervisor user

Supervisor users are typically senior technicians who supervise staff such as apprentices, trainees and technicians. Users can record their own CPD made either visible to themselves or the supervisor lead user (upload documents, download single entry records as well as defined date entry records). Users can set tasks (with titles, descriptions, categories, score range and due date) for basic users they are assigned to and comment on tasks when completed. Users can complete tasks set by supervisor lead users and comment on these when completed.

Basic user

Basic users are typically technicians, apprentices and trainees. Users can record their own CPD made either visible to themselves or the supervisor user (upload documents, download single entry records as well as defined date entry records). Users can complete tasks set by supervisor users and comment on these when completed.

Structure and abilities

Security of personal details is important to us and also to your organisation. Therefore the different levels are designed to ensure that personal details are protected, private and secure.

  • CPD Records can be completed and made private (where only the user can see their own record).
  • If users make a CPD record public, their record can only be seen by assigned supervisors.
  • The system administrator user cannot see any CPD records from any of the 3 levels.
